dc.description.abstractChevaadu sheep, probably the only sheep breed of Tamil Nadu that have single coat colour and is considered as unique, culturally important breed. Body weight was recorded in 857 Chevaadu sheep reared under extensive management system in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts of southern Tamil Nadu. Least square technique of analysis of variance was used to study the effect of sex on growth performance of the sheep. The overall mean body weight at birth, three, six, nine and 12 months were recorded as 2.55 ± 0.01, 7.92 ± 0.06, 13.20 ± 0.16, 16.73 ± 0.22 and 19.42 ± 0.11 kg, respectively.en_US
