Abstract
A five year old Thoroughbred gelding was brought to the Madras Veterinary College Teaching Hospital with a history of anorexia, loss of body condition, and unstable gait with chronic wasting. Detailed clinical examination revealed intermittent fever, pallor of mucous membranes, progressive weakness, incoordination, gait instability (wobbling) involving the pelvic limbs, marked ataxia, head tilt and circling, hyperexcitability, elevated rectal temperature and heart rate.
