Abstract
COVID-19, the infectious disease caused by a novel strain of corona virus was declared a global
pandemic on 20th March, 2020 in India and has affected almost every aspect of human life. The corona
virus pandemic has been declared by World Health Organization (WHO) on 11th March, 2020. Two
colleges of university including I.C. College of Home Sciences and College of Agriculture were selected
for conducting research on “Competency and attitude of postgraduate students toward online education
system during Covid-19 Era”. The study targeted the post graduate agricultural students who were
attending the online classes during the Covid-19 pandemic to meet out the objectives of investigation. A
proportionate sample of 120 postgraduate students have been selected randomly for the study, 60 students
each from I.C. College of Home Sciences and College of Agriculture, CCS HAU, Hisar, Haryana. two
set of independent (16 variables) and one set of dependent (3 variables) variables were selected for the
present investigation. Majority of the students in both of the college were in the age group 21– 23 years,
residing in semi-urban area, had medium sized (5-6 members) nuclear type of families and having
medium family education status scored between 4.2 to 5.3. The main occupation of most of their families
was agricultural farming. Technological competency of all the students were found high with score range
3.39-4.19. Average score of WMS of 15 statement by COHS and COA were found 3.35 and 3.36,
respectively. While social competency of all the students were found medium with score range 2.62-
3.38. Average score of WMS of 10 statement by COHS and COA were found 2.62 and 2.76, respectively.
Attitude of all the respondents towards e- learning requirement was found high with score range 3.39-
4.19. Average score of WMS of 8 statement by COHS and COA were found 3.69 and 3.70, respectively.
Attitude of all the respondents towards e- learning concept was found high with score range 3.39-4.19.
Average score of WMS of 11 statement by COHS and COA were found 3.71 and 3.80, respectively.
Attitude of all the respondents towards reasons for using e- learning was found high with score range
3.39-4.19. Average score of WMS of 10 statement by COHS and COA were found 3.43 and 3.47,
respectively. It is observed that in case of conducive factors all the students had ranked 1st to social
factors, ranked 2nd financial factors and ranked 3rd technical factors. Similarly in case of limiting factors
also all the students had ranked 1st to social factors, ranked 2nd technical factors and ranked 3rd to
miscellaneous factors studied.
