dc.description.abstractABSTRACT Name : Ankur Ahlawat Id No : 970 Degree : M.Sc. (Ag.) Horticulture Advisor : Dr. Karn Veer Singh THESIS TOPIC : “Impact of foliar application of plant growth regulators on growth and yield of garlic (Allium sativum L.)”. The present investigation entitled “Impact of foliar application of plant growth regulators on growth and yield of garlic (Allium sativum L.)” was conducted at Horticultural Research Center of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut (U.P.) during rabi season of 2015-16. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. Different growth and yield attributes viz., Plant height (cm), leaves per plant, diameter of stem (cm), length of longest leaf (cm), width of longest leaf (cm), length of bulb (cm), width of bulb (cm), number of cloves per bulb, weight of bulb (g), length of cloves (cm), diameter of cloves (cm), 100 cloves weight (g), bulb yield (q/ha), TSS (°Brix), Ascorbic Acid (mg). The experiment consisted of seven treatments viz. T1 (NAA 25 ppm), T2 (NAA 50 ppm), T3 (NAA 75 ppm), T4 (GA3 50 ppm), T5 (GA3 100 ppm), T6 (GA3 150 ppm) and T7 (CONTROL) and they were applied at, 30 and 60 days after sowing with the prime objectives 1. To study the effect of plant growth regulators on growth parameter of garlic. 2. To study the effect of plant growth regulators on yield and yield attributing parameters. 3. To study the effect of plant growth regulators on bulb quality of garlic. On the basis of comprehensive study on present investigation, it was concluded that GA3 100 ppm was found to be superior in terms of all growth parameter and yield attributing character of garlic in profitable manner.
