Abstract
Women constituted about half of the
Worlds Population. In India women
constituted 48.2 percent (33 crores out of
68.4 c1-ores). But the percentage of women
in the total labour force is only 20.3
percent. Whereas in other developed
countries it ranges form 30 to 45 percent.
The primary sector farming, livestock,
beestry, fishery, plantations, orchards etc.)
provides Work for about S3 percent of
women and 46 percent of them work as
agricultural labourers, 33 percent as
cultivators, while workers in the
secondary and tertialy sector account for
5 percent respectively.
