Abstract
The treatments comprising four micronutrients viz., ZnSO4, FeSO4, CuSO4 and MgSO4 (@ 0.2% and 0.4% each sprayed 30 and 45 days after transplanting along with control were tried in randomized block design with three replications and nine treatments. The results revealed that foliar spray of FeSO4 @ 0.4% (T5) at an interval of 30 and 45 days after transplanting produced significantly maximum plant height (75.83 cm), plant spread at 50 % flowering (27.07 cm), number of branches (9.23) per plant, maximum stem diameter (1.42 cm) and leaf area (47.50 cm2). In respect of flowering characters, viz., days to first flower bud emergence (57.73), days to opening of flower from bud emergence (7.71 days), days to 50% flowering (69 days), were recorded minimum with the treatment T5 FeSO4 0.4% and blooming period (67.65 days) recorded maximum with the treatment T5 FeSO4 0.4% . The yield parameters viz., number of flowers plant-1 (52.33), flower yield plant-1 (226.67 g), flower yield plot-1 (9.35 kg), flower yield ha-1 (26.32 q) , were recorded maximum with the treatment T5 FeSO4 0.4% .Similarly, the quality parameters weight of flower (4.33 g), diameter of fully opened flower (6.32 cm), number of petals flower-1 (24.97), shelf life (1.85 days) and longetivity (26.83 days) recorded maximum with the treatment T5 FeSO4 0.4%. Length of flower along with pedicel (22.98 cm), length of pedicel (3.58 cm), recorded maximum with treatment T4 FeSO4 0.2%. Nutrient status like Fe, Zn, Cu and Mg content in leaves were significantly increased due to there respective application. The maximum Fe content in leaves (1301.41ppm) was recorded in treatment FeSO4 @ 0.4 % (T5). While, maximum Zn content in leaves (64.44ppm) was recorded in treatment ZnSO4 @ 0.4% (T3) which was significantly highest as COMPARED to control (21.47ppm).
Description
It relates to the effect of foliar spray of micronutrients on growth, yield and quality of china aster which consist of four different micronutrients at 0.2 and 0.4 % concentration. Micronutrients sprayed on china aster FeSO4 @ 0.4% produce maximum vegetative growth, earliest flowering, and yield and quality parameter.
