Abstract
Burrows et al (1951) and Ueseka (1966) observed that sodium was slightly stimulatory to bacteria and increased the production of total volatile fatty acids (TVFA) and the latter, in addition, observed that dietary calcium showed a tendency to increase TVFA production. Since the TVFA production, growth and metabolic activity of rumen micro organism depend on the electrolyte concentration, a study was undertaken to estimate the level of different electrolytes in the rumen fluid in relation to volatile fatty acid production. will I\}&>)(,\1'anr.4.Ls AND METHODS were fed with rations having the follo
