A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2003 at Agroforestry Research area of Horticulture Research Centre of G.B.P.U.A&T, Pantnagar to evaluate the growth and yield of mungbean cultivars under poplar and open and effect of Rhizobium inoculation anf fertilizer incorporation on yield and yield attributes of mungbean under poplar and open. The experiment was laid out in Split-split plot design with three replications. Two growth conditions viz. under poplar and open was taken in main plot, three mungbean genotypes namely Pusa 105, Pusa 9531 and Pant mung 2 were taken in sub-plot and four fertilizer treatments viz. no addition, recommended fertilizer dose (20:60:40 kg NPK/ha) incorporation, sole Rhizobium inoculated seeds and recommended fertilizer dose (20:60:40 kg NPK/ha) incorporation along with Rhizobium inoculation seeds were applied. Germination count, root length, number of root nodules, root dry weight, nodules dry weight, number of trifoliate leaves and days taken to flowering were found significantly higher under poplar. Number of primary branches, dry matter accumulation, Chlorophyll content, Leaf Area Index and Yield contributing characters was found maximum in open condition which was significantly more over agroforestry. In different genotypes of mungbean, Pusa 9531 produced maximum grain yield than Pusa 105 and Pant mung 2. Fertilizer treatment T4 (Fertilization along with Rhizobium inoculation) proved to significantly superior for growth, development and Yield and yield attributes over other fertilizer treatments.en_US
