Abstract
With regarding to regional distribution, 592 are reported from North-Eastern states, 272 are from Northern India, 431 from Southern India, 47 from Central India, 48 from Western India, 348 from Eastern India, 18 from North-Western India, 57 from India Orientalis and 121 from the Indian Island region. The maximum number of species were documented from North-Eastern states. The longhorns from West Bengal state were well studied and accounted over 22 % of the known species of Cerambycidae from India. A total of 28 longhorn beetle species were identified as the most problematic ones under different agro-ecosystem and forest plantation of the country. These species were freshly collected from their natural habitats and descriptively examined about their morphology, host plants and distribution records. The list included 13 species of Lamiinae, 12 species of Cerambycinae, two species of Prioninae and one species of Lepturinae. An illustrated taxonomic key for these genera were also prepared for their easy field identification. Out of 109 longhorn species collected and preserved at the ICAR-NBAIR Insect National Repository, four species viz. Pothyne laosica Breuning, 1968, Neoplocaederus consocius (Pascoe, 1859), Nepiodes terminalis (Gahan, 1906) and Rhaphipodus taprobanicus Gahan, 1890 were taxonomically examined and reported as new records for India. Another 10 species viz., Rhytidodera robusta Gahan, 1891, Aeolesthes holosericea (Fabricius, 1787), Neoplocaederus ferrugineus (Linné, 1758), Stromatium barbatum (Fabricius, 1775), Xystrocera globosa (Olivier, 1795), Cleonaria bicolor Thomson, 1864, Batocera numitor Newman, 1842, Batocera rufomaculata (Degeer, 1775), Sthenias grisator (Fabricius, 1787) and Olenecamptus bilobus (Fabricius, 1801) were documented as new record for the Chhattisgarh state. Four species viz.
