Abstract
Research experiment entitled “Effect of row spacing and weed management practices in pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) under guava based agri-horti system” was conducted during kharif season of 2015-16 at agricultural research farm, Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Banaras Hindu University, Barkachha, Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh (India). The experiment was laid out in split plot design, keeping three row spacing i.e. (S1) 30 cm, (S2) 37.5 cm, and (S3) 45 cm row spacing in main plots where as six weed management practices viz. (W1) weedy check, (W2) two hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS, (W3) Atrazine @ 0.75kg ha-1 (PE), (W4) Pendimethalin @ 1.0kg ha-1 (PE), (W5) Atrazine @ 0.75kg ha-1+Pendimethalin @ 0.75kg ha-1 (PE) and (W6) Atrazine @ 0.75kg ha-1 + Pendimethalin @ 0.75kg ha-1 (PE) + HW at 30 DAS, and were kept in sub plots with three replication. The observation on growth and development of crop and weeds were recorded. Application of Atrazine @ 0.75kg ha-1 +Pendimethalin @ 0.75kg ha-1 (PE) + HW at 30 DAS effectively reduced biomass and density of total weeds, In general broad leaf weeds Trianthema monogyna (L.), Parthenium hysterophorus (L.), Commelina benghalensis (L.) and grasses (Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers, Echinochloa colonum (L.), Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) was also found significantly superior over application of Atrazine @ 0.75kg ha-1+Pendimethalin @ 0.75kg ha-1 (PE), Pendimethalin @ 1.0kg ha-1 (PE) and Atrazine @ 0.75kg ha-1 (PE) and weedy check.
