Abstract
Colletotrichum capsici isolated from affected parts of turmeric and chilli collected from Chinthalapudi area of Guntur district in A.P. was studied with regard to their morphological characters and isozymes. A marked demarcation observed in phialoconidial length of twq isolates but a slight variation observed with reference to colony characters. Maximum genetic similarity observed at 21 days growth period in anionic system and 7 days growth period in cationic system. The anodal esterase showed maximum interaction variance which inturn is useful in differentiating the two isolates. Polyphenoloxidase, peroxidase followed by esterase and catalase showed maximum diversity at one stage or other, suggesting that the isolates are of different genetic nature. Turmeric isolate showed higher concentration of copper and iron than chilli isolate.
