Abstract
A field experiment on “Studies on the influence of cane regulation and growth regulators on growth, yield and quality parameters of grapes (Vitis vinifera L.) was conducted on two varieties 2A Clone and KR White at Division of Fruit Science, MHREC, University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot, during 2018-19 and 2019-20. With respect to growth regulator treatments the application of schedule -3 (S3) which comprised 10 ppm GA3 at parrot green stage (21DAFP); 20 ppm GA3 at pre bloom stage; 40 ppm GA3 + 1 ppm brassinosteroids bunch dipping at 3-4 mm berry stage; 30 ppm GA3+ 1.50 ppm brassinosteroids bunch dipping at 6-7 mm berry stage) was recorded the highest bunch length (20.86 and 20.91 cm in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively), bunch weight (598.10 and 599.49 g in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively), berry diameter (15.79 and 15.16 mm in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively) and yield (42.45 and 43.04 (tons/ha) in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively). The higher TSS (21.22 and 21.83 °Brix in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively) and lower acidity (0.68 and 0.73 % in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively). Further, 25 and 33 canes per vine in combination with S3 treatment has recorded the highest bunch length (22.85 cm and 21.96 cm in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively ), bunch width (15.26 and 16.80 cm in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively) bunch weight (626.66 and 653.13 g in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively), berry length ( 21.80 and 21.86 mm in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively), berry diameter ( 16.64 and 15.78 mm in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively), TSS (21.76 and 21.75 0Brix in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively), TSS to acid ratio (33.77 and 33.19 % in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively) and total sugars (17.78 and 18.52 % in 2A Clone and KR White, respectively). From the study, it can be concluded that combination of gibberellic acid and brassinosteroids positively influenced the bunch and berry parameters. Among the interaction effects, the treatment 25 and 33 canes per vine with treatment S3 found superior over the control and other interactions.
