Abstract
Agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. In India, two-thirds of the
Indian population is engaged in the agricultural sector, directly and indirectly. The
group of industries that relied on the agricultural sector for the raw material supply is
called agro-based industries. One of the industries of this Agro-based industry is
medicinal plant-based industries. India has a solid traditional health care system,
“Ayurveda.” Medicinal Plant-based industry has a strong backbone of Ayurveda.
Most of the raw materials for the medicinal plant-based industry are supply for the
wild harvest. Demand increases for the ayurvedic and other plant-based medics wild
harvest are not sufficient to counter the demand.
