Abstract
Melons are the most diverse species tn the genus Cucumis. Genetic variability among melons were accessed for downy and powdery mildew disease resistance, morphological traits and selected phytochemical at College of Horticulture, Bengaluru and four genotypes were found to be resistant to downy mildew and 12 werefound to be resistant to powdery mildew. In screening of melon genotyes for molecular markers linked with powdery mildew resistance, ten genotypes were having the band size same as that of resistant check COHB38. Melon genotypes showed a wide range of variability for morphological traits.
