Abstract
A field experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of plant growth regulators and chemical viz. GA3, cycocel, and KNO3 on flowering and fruiting of acid lime at Horticulture Research Station, Tidagundi in Vijayapur district during 2017-18. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design with two main treatments (Phule Sharbati and Sai Sarbati) and nine sub plot treatments. The results revealed that GA3 @ 50 ppm during June (S1) showed significant and positive influence on vegetative parameters viz. plant height (3.59 m), north to south canopy spread (4.27 m), canopy volume (28.53 m3) and shoot length at flowering (13.00 cm). However, reproductive parameters like number of flowers per shoot (8.18), number of fruits per tree (416.66), initial fruit set (54.74%) and fruit retention (39.73%) was recorded maximum with the application of GA3 @ 50 ppm during June - Cycocel @ 1000 ppm during Sept followed by KNO3 @ 2 % during October (S6). The maximum days to flowering was recorded in S1 (153.16) with GA3 @ 50 ppm during June and the minimum days taken to fruit set in S6. Economics and quality parameters of acid lime have enhanced with GA3 @ 50 ppm during June - Cycocel @ 1000 ppm during September - KNO3 2 % during October resulting in highest titrable acidity (7.19%) and total soluble solids (7.25ยบ Brix), decreased rind thickness (1.46 mm), seed weight (0.62 g) and number of seeds per fruit (8.06) and the highest benefit cost ratio (3.75).
