Abstract
The present investigation entitled, “Effect of temperature on seed development and seed quality of greengram” (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilezek).” was carried out during Rabi season of 2015 at Phytotron lab, Department of Agricultural Botany and Seed Technology Research Unit (STRU) laboratory and Biotechnology laboratory, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Dist. Ahmednagar (M.S.). The experiment was laid out in Factorial Completely Randomized Design (FCRD) in laboratory with three replications involving pots with plants of three varieties viz., Phule Vaibhav (V1), BM-2002 (V2) and BM-2003 (V3) were exposed under natural condition for vegetative growth. These pots were shifted in automated polyhouse before flowering till maturity to study the effect of various temperature regimes viz., 30/20, 30/25 and 35/30 OC and control on seed development and seed quality of greengram. These plants were used in laboratory studies to assess the effect of temperature on seed development and seed quality of greengram (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilezek.) The plants were exposed to different temperatures and the observations were recorded on growth, development and maturation of seed and yield of greengram.
