Abstract
Large White Yorkshire pig, known for its litter size and mothering ability has been extensively used for several decades to improve Desi pigs through crossbreeding. The production and reproduction performance of the breed was evaluated based on data collected from records maintained at PGRIAS, Kattupakkam, Kancheepuram. The individual traits studied were birth weight (BW), weaning weight (WW), pre-weaning average daily gain (ADG), market weight (MW) and pre- weaning mortality (PWM). The sow performance traits studied were age at first fertile service (AFF S), litter size at binh (LSAB), number born alive (NBA), litter weight at birth (LWAB), litter size at weaning (LSAW), litter weight at weaning (LWAW) and farrowing interval (Fl).
