Abstract
To meet the need of growing population in India the g-rowjh in agriculture production has to be accelerated. For sustainable high crop yields, balanced fertilization with all the nutrients, which are deficient in soils, must be adopted without further delay. This is essential in view of continuous mining of soil nutrients -- over decades without adequate replenishrnet$through manures and fertilizers. The emphasis in the recent past hai been laid on balanced fertilization with NPK. ? However, sulphur fertilization has not received the attention it deserves as the current - - .. .- use of sulphur free fertilizers, like urea, DAP and MOP is accelerating sulphur 1 i. deficiencies throughout India. -25-3 = 1 -*7d 4 Farmers ingener3l must recogn'ke that it is in their interest to correct sulphur deficiencies by including sulphur containink\ fertilizers in the farm practices. Times are changing and so are the nutrient needs and components of balance in intensive farming. Just as a car cannot run on a flat tyre, a crop also cannot give high yields if L - , ; three tyres (NPK) are in good shape but the fourth is flat. Apply four (NPKS), grow more. : The pkimary data collected by using two separate structured questionnaires (for farmers, and dealersj was tailored with information extracted from desk research 1 - . . . . to meet the objective of the study. ' The data unearthed from 444 farmers, and 60 dealers in four States of India (Andhra Pradesh, Chattishgargh, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa) to find out perception, - . satisfaction levels, awareness levels and suggestion of the fmerddealers regarding !: the usage of the Gromor sulphur. The method of study is field oriented to collect primary data from farmers dealers and secondary data from Fertilizer journals, websites on technical suitability of Gromor sulphur for croncerned crops. Gist of findings i n i ? -. i 5 Most of the farmers are not aware of the benefits of soil testing. b 5 Very few farmers kmw sulphur deficiency symptoms. = Farmers felt difficulr recognize growth improvements. 9 Farmers rely on deal- recommendations. Most of the-farmer ti n G-sulphur OF credit. \ '3 Farmers awareness very low about sulspbur and other sulphur sourcing fertilizers. 3 Most of the Farmers, Dealers, satisfied with G-Sulphur. Suggestion for development of Gromor sulphur = Develop brand image tthrough product quality 3 Attractive packing , Pr'oper positioning in identified crop segments 3 Provide credit for easy penetration the initial years 3 Creating awareness on 'USP' of Gromor sulphur through T.V, Personal contacts, Village adoption programmes, Burrakathas, Vedio on wheels etc.
