Abstract
Data on reproduction and fitness records for Nilagiri and Nilagiri Synthetic
sheep maintained at Sheep Breeding Research Station, Sandynallah, The Nilgiris
over a period of twenty seven years from 1989 to 2015 were collected and
analysed. The effect of genetic and non-genetic factors viz., breed, contemporary
group of birth, contemporary group of breeding, ewe age at breeding, ewe age at
lambing, ewe’s weight at mating, inbreeding, sex of lamb, birth weight of lamb,
type of birth on various reproduction and fitness traits were studied.
