Abstract
The present study was conducted to find out the nutritional profile of the cow milk in comparison to sow milk for the development of milk replacer to early weaned piglets. Milk samples were collected from sow on 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th and 35th day of lactation and cow milk was collected randomly. The nutrient composition of cow milk and sow milk revealed that cow milk was less by 6.33 % of total solids, 0.1 % of total ash, 1.68 % of crude protein, 0.85 % of lactose, 1.51 % of fat and 2.91 % of SNF when compared to sow milk. The results indicated that nutritional profile of cow milk was lower than sow milk. It is concluded that while developing cow milk based milk replacer for piglets the deficit nutrients have to be added to the cow milk before feeding.
