Abstract
Green composites are applying themselves in almost every engineering field because of their cost effectiveness and biodegradable behaviour. Polyvinyl alcohol is one of the important biodegradable polymer which gains worldwide consideration from the last decade for the development of biodegradable composite. Green plastic and composites based on polyvinyl alcohol shows potential applications therefore; polyvinyl alcohol is used as a matrix in the field of material science. This work reveals the systematic methodology of fabrication and evaluation of diverse properties of the cross-linked polyvinyl alcohol and cotton fiber reinforced green composites. After fabrication, cross linked polyvinyl alcohol cotton fiber reinforced green composites, with varying cotton fiber sheet weight percentages (0%, 16%, 21%, 32%, 43%, 64%, 74% & 97%) were put to investigation. fabricated samples are firstly examined on the basis of physical tests which consisted of the water absorption tests. Micro structural tests included the Scanning electron microscope (SEM), mechanical tests comprised of the tensile test. Finally, the thermal tests were also done which involved the Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Differential thermal analysis (DTA) and Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The polyvinyl alcohol based composite with 64 weight % cotton fiber content are confirmed to be the best of all compositions under this scrutiny which was authenticated by the micro-structural and mechanical tests.
