Abstract
The perceptional attitude of men and women dairy farmers on dairying was tested by using interview schedule consisting series of 16 questions‘ For each problem perceived, the ‘Z’ values were calculated and compared according to their actual representation in the total sample selected. The difference in the intensity of the problems as perceived by the two categories of dairy farmers was indicated as Gender disparity index which ranged from 1.39 to 80.35. The Gender disparity was very high for two important problems like lack of training facilities to rural women on dairying (80.35) and irregular and untimely payment for milk by procuring agencies (72.33) The Gender disparity was high with the problems like high input cost (38.2) location problems (54.09), shortage of services, lack of motivation to adopt the advanced technique (35.18). These problems need to attended by all the Government, non~government organizations and others involved in rural livestock development through combined efforts and strategic planning. The co-operative societies should also extend their services through formation of more women co-operative societies.
