Abstract
Spirometra mansonoides among cats in Madras city was recorded forthei first time, with an incidence rate of 0.909 per cent, its biology was probed into using clean cyclops (Mesocyclops leukam) and tadpoles of.Rana sp. as first and second intermediate hosts respectiveIy§. Various aspects of development of thecestode were studied. The period of development was found to be 98-:95 days. The effect of the plerocercoids on the tadpoles and the adult parasite on the cat were also observed and recorded.
