Abstract
Brucellosis, a highly infectious, bacterial anthropozoonotic disease of global significance, is an economically important disease of livestock. The present study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of Brucella spp. infection in sheep and goats by culture and RBPT and to identify Brucella biovars in sheep and goats by biochemical tests viz. oxidase, catalase, urease, H2S production, growth in the presence of thionin and basic fuchsin dye and agglutination with monospecific A and M antisera. The confirmation and differentiation of species was carried out by multiplex AMOS – PCR.
