Abstract
An investigation on "Effect of micronutrients on seed yield and seed quality in Soybean (Glycine max (L.) merrill)" was conducted at the Instructional Farm of the Department of Botany, Post Graduate Institute, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, during Kharif season 2003-2004. The treatments comprised methods of application (seed treatment and foliar spray) and levels of micronutrients (Zn and Mo, each at 0,1 and 2 g as seed treatment and 0,0.25 and 0.50 percent as foliar spray) in Soybean Cr. Js- 335. The results indicated that among application methods, the seed treatment method of application of micronutrients was found to be better for plant height, seed yield and yield components then foliar spray. Among application methods, Zinc and molybdenum levels, the crop growth, yield attributes and yield were more at higher levels of Zinc and molybdenum compared to lower levels and control. Similarly, all growth, yield attributes and yield were superior at higher levels of Zinc and molybdenum applied through seed treatment than that of foliar spray. The seed quality parameters viz., oil content and vigour index were significantly superior at higher levels of Zinc nd molybdenum. Interaction effect of application methods and levels of Zinc and molybdenum did not differed significantly among seed quality parameters. However, at higher levels of Zinc and molybdenum, seed quality parameters were superior over control.
