    SOCIO ECONOMIC STUDY OF THE FARMERS ASSOCIATED WITH BETTER LIFE FARMING ALLIANCE LED BY BAYER IN RANCHI DISTRICT OF JHARKHAND

    The Present study entitled “Socio Economic Study of the Farmers Associated with Better Life Farming Alliance Led by Bayer in Ranchi District of Jharkhand” was carried out at Kanke and Mandar block of Ranchi district in Jharkhand during 2023. Five Better Life Farming Center from each block were randomly selected and ten farmers from each Better Life Farming Centers were selected. Altogether 100 farmers and 10 Better Life Farming Center owners were surveyed on, socio economic profile, constraints faced by them, solutions provided by the Better Life Farming Alliance. The data was collected by personal interviews of the respondents through a structured interview schedule. Demographic details of the farmers and Better Life Farming Centers owner such as gender, age, family type, annual income, education qualification, livestock possession, facilities availed, satisfaction level and constraints were obtained and analyzed. The study indicated that 66 percent respondents (farmers) were male, 46 percent belonged to middle age, 55 percent involved only in farming activity, 75 percent possessed goat, 34 percent had annual income in the range 1 lakh- 2 lakh. The major constraint faced by both the farmers and Better Life Farming Owners was high price of inputs (75%). Ninety percent respondents were satisfied with seed facility of Better Life Farming Centers. Suggestion to the Better Life Farming Alliance includes more promotional campaign should be organized to increase awareness among farmers. Lowering the price of inputs and providing incentives on bulk purchase. Storage facility should also be included among the facilities of Better Life Farming Alliance.
