THERAPEUTIC EFFICACY OF HYDRO ALCOHOLIC EXTRACT OF MORINGA (moringa oleifera) & TULSI (ocimum sanctum) LEAVES IN ENDOMETRITIC REPEAT BREEDING CROSS BRED COWS

Moringa and tulsi in combination gave synergistic effect with maximum size of zone of inhibition. This combination was almost equivalent to Cephapirin. There was similar effect of moringa and tulsi on bacterial load in comparison to antibiotic Cephapirine. Uterine defense mechanism in terms of PMN infiltration was stimulated most significantly after administration of hydroalcoholic extract of moringa alone and in combination with tulsi. However, PMN infiltration significantly decline after antibiotic Cephapirin treatment. Total leucocyte count, Total protein & Total immunoglobulin concentration increased significantly after herbal extract treatment. Comparable recovery & conception rate was recorded in Cephapirin treated group (83.33% recovery and conception rate) with combined herbal extract treated group (recovery and conception rate as 83.33% & 66.67% respectively) and moringa treated group. On the basis of the result obtained during the present study, it is concluded that the hydroalcholic extract of Tulsi & Moringa in combination (6%w/v) may be recommended as alternative treatment for endometritic repeat breeding cross bred cows over conventional antibiotic therapy. However more number of cows should be experimented to authenticate the use of above herbal extracts in ameliorating endometritic repeat breeding condition in cows.
