Stability Analysis under Late Sown and Very Sown Irrigated Wheat
(Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi, 1991) Achyutananda Paul; A. K. Verma,
In the present study of stability analysis, thirty wheat varieties were evaluated under late and very late sowing dates, over years for twelve plant characters. Very late sowing conditions decreased the mean of all the plant characters particularly during the year 1988-89. The varietal differences and the variety x environmental interactions were significant for all the twelve plant characters except harvest index. The pooled analysis of variance revealed that both linear and non linear components were significant for days to flower, plant height, peduncle length, grain weight/spike, 100-grain weight, yield/plot and the duration of grain development. However, linear component made major contribution to variety x environment interaction in all these characters except for grain yield/plot. The linear component was found to play major role for length of the spike and grains/spike, while, the non-linear component was predominant for number of spikes/plant and yield/ plant besides yield/plot. The character harvest index was non significant for both these components. The environmental index was negative for all the characters under very late sowing condition of 1988-89. There was no relations between the best performing variety and most stable variety in most of the characters, Seventeen varieties were found to be stable for yield/plant.
