Seed is the most important and vital input for agricultural production. In fact, it is the most cost efficient means of increasing agricultural production and productivity. Quality of seed accounts for twenty to twenty five percent of productivity. Therefore, it is important that quality seeds are made available to the farmers of the country. The Indian Seeds programme recognizes three generations of seeds namely breeder, foundation and certified seeds. The private seed industry is now undergoing a transition following the Indian Government's focus on biotechnology research, as a means of increasing agricultural production and also driven by trends in the domestic and world seed market. Several large multinational seed companies now have their presence in India (either as a joint venture or with 100 percent equity) with their main focus on biotechnology. Ankur Seeds Private Limited is one of the growing field crops and hybrid vegetable crop seed companies in India. It is research based organization. Ankur seeds established in 1976 at Nagpur. Agricultural development in India has been closely linked with the progress in agricultural mechanization. During the early sixties, with the introduction of high yielding varieties of rice, wheat and other crops, which needed good irrigation facilities; progressive farmers soon realized that the traditional water lifts, which were driven by draught animals or operated manually, could not meet the water requirement of the high yielding varieties of different crops. Lift irrigation was, therefore, quickly mechanized through use of electric motor or diesel engine powered pumps. Further, due to advancement in Agricultural Engineering new machineries and tools were developed to reduce cost of production of crops and drudgery of farm operations. New machineries and tools were widely adopted by the farmers for various farm operations which resulted in higher productivity of crops.

OPPORTUNITIES IN FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRY IN INDIA
(International Agri-Business Management Institute Anand Agricultural University Anand, 2020) Jaiswal Ankit S.; Dr. S. R. Panigrahy
Food processing sector is one of the key sector of the Indian economy. India is the second largest producer of food products, next to China. The growth of food processing sector will bring overall development in the economy, as it establishes a strong relation between the two pillars of economy; agriculture and industry. India is having a strong agriculture base but post-harvest losses and wastages are quite high. India currently processes less than 10% of its agriculture output i.e. around 2% of fruits and vegetables, 6% of poultry, 21% of meat, 23% of marine and 35% of milk; which is very low compared to other developed countries. The most of the processing done in India can be identified in primary processing. The primary processing compared to secondary processing offers low value-addition that includes processing of high value items like fruits and vegetables, dairy, bakery, chocolates etc. When India is making a move in its policy to ‘Make in India’ numerous gates of growth and development have opens up for the food processing industry.

Agriculture is the primary cause of over-exploitation of ground water in India. Ground water overuse or overexploitation is defined as a situation in which, over a period of time, average extraction rate from aquifers is greater than the average recharge rate. In states were proving electric connections either free or charged at a subsidized rate. This results in the excessive extraction of groundwater cause overexploitation. This is serious problem in current situation this subsidized charges are burden to Government and groundwater depletion is threat to environment.
