Anand Agricultural University (AAU) was established in 2004 at Anand with the support of the Government of Gujarat, Act No.(Guj 5 of 2004) dated April 29, 2004. Caved out of the erstwhile Gujarat Agricultural University (GAU), the dream institution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Dr. K. M. Munshi, the AAU was set up to provide support to the farming community in three facets namely education, research and extension activities in Agriculture, Horticulture Engineering, product Processing and Home Science. At present there seven Colleges, seventeen Research Centers and six Extension Education Institute working in nine districts of Gujarat namely Ahmedabad, Anand, Dahod, Kheda, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Mahisagar, Botad and Chhotaudepur AAU's activities have expanded to span newer commodity sectors such as soil health card, bio-diesel, medicinal plants apart from the mandatory ones like rice, maize, tobacco, vegetable crops, fruit crops, forage crops, animal breeding, nutrition and dairy products etc. the core of AAU's operating philosophy however, continues to create the partnership between the rural people and committed academic as the basic for sustainable rural development. In pursuing its various programmes AAU's overall mission is to promote sustainable growth and economic independence in rural society. AAU aims to do this through education, research and extension education. Thus, AAU works towards the empowerment of the farmers.

This study was carried out on vaginal secretions/aspirates of infertile (acyclic and endometritic) crossbred cows from field and healthy cyclic as well as pregnant crossbred cows of LRS, AAU, Anand with the objectives (i) to identify the vaginal microorganisms based on routine cultural and culture-independent (metagenomics) methods, (ii) to monitor plasma progesterone, estrogen, total protein, total cholesterol, calcium and inorganic phosphorus profile, and (iii) to find out the association of vaginal metabiota with circulatory levels of gonadal steroids, if any. The work was carried out on total 36 crossbred cows covering six each regular cyclic (proestrus, estrus, metestrus, diestrus), acyclic, endometritic and 3, 6 and 9 months pregnant animals.

(Department of Livestock Production Management College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry Anand Agricultural University Anand, 2018) Ajaykumar Laljibhai Nayak; Dr. M. M. Trivedi
The present experiment was conducted to study on certain summer management practices on performance of crossbred calves in middle Gujarat agro climatic condition during summer season (1st April to 15th July) at Livestock Research Station, College of Veterinary science and Animal Husbandry, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat. The study was conducted on 18 Young (80-100 kg) farm born Crossbred calves of Livestock research station, Veterinary College, Anand. The experimental animals were maintained on ICAR feeding standard (1998). The chaffed hybrid nippier, Juwar straw and pelleted concentrate Amul Dane was offered as per the requirement of animals for DCP and TDN to fulfill the dry matter requirement. The clean water was provided ad lib thrice time in a day in plastic tub. The experimental animals were divided in to two treatment groups based on body weight comprising of nine animals in each treatment viz. T1: Control (Housing under asbestos roofed shed) and T2: (Housing under asbestos roofed shed where top surface of roof will be painted white and animals was applied mist through foggers).

The present study was conducted to evaluate the renoprotective effect of aqueous, alcoholic and biherbal seed extracts of Vigna unguiculata (V.U.) and Hordeum vulgare (H.V.) on 86 adult healthy female Wistar rats (12-15 weeks of age). Rats were divided in to 14 groups- I (lithiatic control), II (vehicle control), III (Aqueous extract-AQ. EX. of V.U., low dose), IV (AQ. EX. of V.U., high dose), V (Alcoholic extract-AL. EX. of V.U., low dose), VI (AL. EX. of V.U., high dose), VII (AQ. EX. of H.V., low dose), VIII (AQ. EX. of H.V., high dose), IX (AL. EX. of H.V., low dose), X (AL. EX. of H.V., high dose), XI (Biherbal-BIH. AQ. EX., 1:1, low dose), XII (BIH. AQ. EX., 1:1, high dose), XIII (BIH. AL. EX., 1:1, low dose) and XIV (BIH. AL. EX., 1:1, high dose). All groups had six rats each. Group I had eight rats. All the rats were numbered group wise and individually. Group II was given 0.5% sodium bicarbonate. Urolithiasis was induced in group I and III to XIV animals using 0.75 % (v/v) ethylene glycol and 2% (w/v) ammonium chloride along with drinking water as stone inducing agent for 28 days. After 28th day, groups III to XIV were given AQ., AL. and BIH. seed EX. of V.U. and H.V.
