Anand Agricultural University, Anand

Anand Agricultural University (AAU) was established in 2004 at Anand with the support of the Government of Gujarat, Act No.(Guj 5 of 2004) dated April 29, 2004. Caved out of the erstwhile Gujarat Agricultural University (GAU), the dream institution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Dr. K. M. Munshi, the AAU was set up to provide support to the farming community in three facets namely education, research and extension activities in Agriculture, Horticulture Engineering, product Processing and Home Science. At present there seven Colleges, seventeen Research Centers and six Extension Education Institute working in nine districts of Gujarat namely Ahmedabad, Anand, Dahod, Kheda, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Mahisagar, Botad and Chhotaudepur AAU's activities have expanded to span newer commodity sectors such as soil health card, bio-diesel, medicinal plants apart from the mandatory ones like rice, maize, tobacco, vegetable crops, fruit crops, forage crops, animal breeding, nutrition and dairy products etc. the core of AAU's operating philosophy however, continues to create the partnership between the rural people and committed academic as the basic for sustainable rural development. In pursuing its various programmes AAU's overall mission is to promote sustainable growth and economic independence in rural society. AAU aims to do this through education, research and extension education. Thus, AAU works towards the empowerment of the farmers.

    Dairy sector witnessed a spectacular growth in between 1971-1996, due to Operation Flood, an integrated cooperative dairy development programme on the proven model of Anand pattern implemented in three phases by NDDB. In this era of globalization there is need to increase productivity and handle the milk in professional and scientific way by means of technology.     At present bio-fertilizers are procured by State Agriculture Departments and distributed to the farmers at concessional rates. In 2008-09 almost 90% of the production and consumption of bio-fertilizer has been covered in the states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamilnadu. Among it, highest production was in Karnataka contributing 48.74% of total production followed by Tamilnadu 18.60% of total production. In the same year out of 68,254 tons capacity, India has produced only 24,455 tons i.e. only 36% capacity utilization was realized. Surprisingly, Punjab being the most prosperous state in terms of agricultural production, has less than 0.1% share in bio-fertlizer production and consumption.

    Soil physical condition is one factor that can limit crop production. Poor soil physical condition can restrict water intake into the soil and subsequent movement, plant root development and aeration of the soil. There are amending materials that claim to improve the soil physical conditions; such materials are called soil conditioners. Soil conditioner varies in both their origin and composition; it can be synthetic or naturally occurring, organic or inorganic. Zytonic is a polymer soil conditioner, inorganic in nature suitable for all type of plants. Zydex industries have taken leadership in synthesizing such product. Zydex industries originated in 1999 with production of textile chemicals entered into agri. business in Dec. 2007 and started production of liquid form of Zytonic and in June 2011 it replaced liquid form of Zytonic with powder form which can be applied to the field easily together with fertilizers. For the study, both primary as well as secondary data were used to achieve the stipulated objectives. To achieve the objectives, a sample of 200 farmers was selected from all the zone of Valsad sugar factory of Valsad District using semi structured questionnaire.

    The Indian feed industry is about 35 years old. The quality standards of Indian feeds are high and up to international levels. Raw materials for feed are adequately available in India. The industries production is about 3.0 million tones. (Source: DAHD. GOI). In India, most research work on animal feeds is practical and focuses on the use of by-products, the upgrading of ingredients and the enhancing of productivity. In India 57% gap in between demand and availability of concentrate followed by 56% gap in between demand and availability of green fodder and 40% in dry fodder. (Source: Dep. Of Animal Husbandry, dairying, &fisheries, Ministry of Agri., GOI Annual report 2010-11). In the era of globalization, there is needed to increase productivity. Feeding Specific Animal Inc. has come up with organic nutritional supplement which help to increase fat content in milk along with improvement in milk production.     Amul is having its footstep in Ice-cream industry in India. Amul Ice Cream was launched on 10th March, 1996 in Gujarat. Ice-cream industry is having so many numbers of players like Havmor, Vadilal, Kwality walls, Mother Dairy and Others local brands having stiff competition among them. In consumer behaviour, perception refers to much more than just biological use of sense organs. It includes the way stimuli are interacted and integrated by consumers. Consumer characteristics vary from place to place. Therefore it has become challenging task for marketers to understand need, buying behaviour and perception of consumers before developing product and marketing program.
