STUDY ON AGITATION PARAMETERS IN ISOLATION OF MILK FAT FROM BUFFALO SOUR MILK
    (AAU, Anand, 1986) UPADHYAY, JANAK B.; Shah, U. S.
In the present work, the process of shurning buffalo sour milk by agitation was studied. Souring was done by culturing as well by natural curdling. No difference was observed in behaviour of cultured milk and naturally curdled milk in respect of fat recovery. Fat percentage of buffalo sour milk was varied from a level of 3 per cent to 9 per cent. Agitation was produced by stirring sour milk with a small variable speed stirrer. Dimensional analysis was employed to get better understanding of the churning process and thereby to develop a relationship among the parameters involved in the process. The results of various experimental were plotted using the relationship obtained from the dimensional analysis.

BIOLOGY AND CONTROL MEASURES OF BROWN SCALE, SAISSETIA COFFEAE WALKER ( HOMOPTERA : COCCIDAE) ON POINTED GOURD (TRICHOSANTHES DIOICA ROXB.)
    (AAU, Anand, 1986) VALAND, VITTHALBHAI M.; Patel, R. C.
The biology and control measures of brown scale, Saissatia coffeae Wlk. (Homoptera : Coccidae) on pointed gourd (Trichosanthes dioica Roxb.) were studied. This scale is recorded for the first time as pest on pointed gourd on vines, leaves and at times on fruits in Gujarat State. It reproduces partnenogenetically and completes development through three instars. The eggs measured 0.212 ± 0.0096 mm. In length and 0.119 ± 0.006 mm. In breadth. The first, second and third instar measured on an average 0.31 ± 0.02, 1.521 ± 0.091 and 3.021 ± 0.144 mm. In length and 0.18 ± 0.1, 1.126 ± 0.101 and 2.427 ± 0.225 mm. in length and 2.093 ± 0.187 mm. In breadth. Maximum incubation period of eggs at 60% relative humidity and 24°C was 12.91 days.

PHYSICO-CHEMICAL AND STORAGE CHARACTERISTICS OF BISCUITS DEVELOPED FROM THE BLENDS OF CASEIN-WHEY PROTEIN COPRECIPITATES AND PARTIALLY DEOILED GROUNDNUT MEAL
(AAU, Anand, 1986) PATEL, SOMABHAI MAGANLAL; SHARMA, R. S.
This study was planned to develop a simplified process for preparation of partially deoiled groundnut meal (PDGM) with minimum possible mitty/bitter flavour inherent to groundnut and to make use of such meal in formulation of biscuits with blends of casein-whey protein coprecipitates (CWC) with a view to enhance protein-calorie value with out extraneous incorporation of hydregenated fat. This study also aimed to evaluate the impact of the above blends on the compositional, physico-chemical, organoleptic and storage characteristics of such biscuits and to suggest a simple process line for the manufacture of acceptable type of protein-calorie enriched biscuits with reasonable shelf-life.

(AAU, Anand, 1986) MODI, DASHARATHLAL BABULAL; Goswami, K. P.
A field experiment baa been in progress on Goradu soil under tobacco crop at Anand for 25 years. An attenpt has been made to evaluate the effects on soil properties and plant growth. Soil samples were collected from the middlepart of each plot upto the depth of 60cm (three layers) after harvest of crop for two years were analysed for various properties. Plant growth data for one year and yield for two years were also recorded. Continuous (25 years) application of FYM/yr, oil cake or combined application of green manure and oil cake in surface soil layer gave increased soil water holding capacity in the two years pooled data analysis. The water holding capacity of the sub-surface layer remained unaffected.
