Anand Agricultural University, Anand

Anand Agricultural University (AAU) was established in 2004 at Anand with the support of the Government of Gujarat, Act No.(Guj 5 of 2004) dated April 29, 2004. Caved out of the erstwhile Gujarat Agricultural University (GAU), the dream institution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Dr. K. M. Munshi, the AAU was set up to provide support to the farming community in three facets namely education, research and extension activities in Agriculture, Horticulture Engineering, product Processing and Home Science. At present there seven Colleges, seventeen Research Centers and six Extension Education Institute working in nine districts of Gujarat namely Ahmedabad, Anand, Dahod, Kheda, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Mahisagar, Botad and Chhotaudepur AAU's activities have expanded to span newer commodity sectors such as soil health card, bio-diesel, medicinal plants apart from the mandatory ones like rice, maize, tobacco, vegetable crops, fruit crops, forage crops, animal breeding, nutrition and dairy products etc. the core of AAU's operating philosophy however, continues to create the partnership between the rural people and committed academic as the basic for sustainable rural development. In pursuing its various programmes AAU's overall mission is to promote sustainable growth and economic independence in rural society. AAU aims to do this through education, research and extension education. Thus, AAU works towards the empowerment of the farmers.

    The present investigation entitled “Effect of wax coating, different packaging materials and storage conditions on extending the shelf life of acid lime (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle) cv. Kagzi” was carried out at Horticultural Research Farm and Fruit Processing Centre, Department of Horticulture, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand during the year 2016 and 2017. Acid lime (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle) is one of the most important citrus fruit as a major source of vitamin- C and acetic acid. Acid lime is a non-climacteric fruit, with storage life of six to eight days at ambient condition. Due to its perishability, there is always glut in market at peak supply period forcing the growers to do distressed selling. The storage of the fruits is the only remedy to prolong the marketing period, which will ultimately ensure the availability of the fruits to the consumers and optimum price to the growers. Extension of shelf life of fruits is possible by checking the rate of transpiration, respiration and microbial infection by several treatments like waxing, use of different packaging materials and storage structures. Keeping this view the experiment was conducted.

    INTEGRATED NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT ON GROWTH, YIELD AND QUALITY OF SAPOTA [Manilkara achras (MILL.) FORSBERG] CV. KALIPATTI

    A field experiment was conducted at the Horticultural Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand during the years 2015-16 and 2016-17 with a view to study the “Integrated nutrient management on growth, yield and quality of sapota [Manilkara achras (Mill.) Forsberg] cv. Kalipatti”. The experiment consists of thirteen treatments which comprising organic fertilizers (FYM, vermicompost and castor cake) and biofertilizers (AAU Azotobacter, AAU PSB, AAU KMB and AAU bio NPK). The experiment was laid out in completely block design and replicated thrice. The soil of the experimental site was sandy loam.

    EFFECT OF GROWTH REGULATORS AND CHEMICAL ON FLOWERING, YIELD AND QUALITY OF ACID LIME (Citrus aurantifolia SWINGLE) CV. KAGZI

    The present investigation on entitled “Effect of growth regulators and chemical on flowering, yield and quality of acid lime (citrus aurantifolia Swingle) cv. Kagzi” was carried out at the orchard of Horticultural Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand during the year 2014-15 & 2015-16. The experiment was laid out in Factorial Randomized Block Design consisting of two factors with three replications. There were eighteen treatments comprised of six spray treatments of growth regulators and chemical i.e. water spray (C0), GA3 50 mg/l (C1), KNO3 2% (C2), GA3 25 mg/l + KNO3 1% (C3), GA3 50 mg/l + KNO3 2% (C4) and Cycocel 500 mg/l (C5) as well as three time of application i.e. 2nd week of September (T1), 4th week of September (T2) and 2nd week of October (T3).

    The experiment was carried out during the spring and summer seasons of the year 2013-14 & 2014-15 at the Horticultural Reasearch Farm, Department of Horticulture, B.A. College of Agricuture, Anand Agriculture University, Anand to study the "EFFECT OF PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS AND MICRONUTRIENTS ON YIELD AND PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF MANGO CV. MALLIKA GROWN UNFER THE MIDDLE GUJARAT AGRO CLIMATIC CONDITION". The experiment comprised of 15 treatment with different PGR's i.e. NAA 20 and 40 mg/1, GA3 25 and 50 mg/1 and micronutrients i.e. borax 0.2 and zinc sulphat 0.5% and control (water spray). Foliar spray of treatments was done at full bloom, pea and marble stages on 15 years old mango trees of cv. Mallika. Experiment was laid out in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and repeated thrice.
