ROLE PERFORMANCE OF GRAM PANCHAYAT MEMBERS FOR VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT IN TRIBAL AREAS OF GUJARAT
(DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION AND COMMUNICATION B. A. COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE ANAND AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY ANAND, 2020) Surkal Binalkumaree R.; Dr. Sunil R. Patel
The Panchayati raj system was introduced for the first time in India in 1959 based on the recommendations of Balwant Rai Mehta committee report (1958) which advocated three-tier structure of local self-government, of which the gram panchayat is the first tier at village level, taluka panchayat samiti at the sub-district level and zilla parishad at the district level. Gram Panchayat is the most important basic institution for village development, the effectiveness of which rests on the role performance of its members. Thus, for better development of the village, it is essential that the gram panchayat members, who are the formal leaders of the village, should understand their role clearly and carry out it effectively. This role performance by the members may be affected by various characteristics of the members. Hence, it is also worthwhile to study the relationship between the profile of the gram panchayat members and their role performance. Further, the members face many problems while performing their role in village development; hence, such problems should also be studied.

(DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION AND COMMUNICATION B. A. COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE ANAND AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY ANAND, 2020) Rathavi Bhavesh M.; Dr. M. R. Patel
Animal husbandry plays a vital role in the socio-economic progress of rural people. For a number of reasons, control of animal diseases is very important. Disease tolerance improves animal welfare, makes livestock farming more proficient and helps to protect people from those animal-borne diseases capable of infecting humans too. Now a day in every village, method of disseminating knowledge of the scientific techniques of animal husbandry has been started, but sufficient care has not been taken to maintain animal health leading to poor or minimal output in rural areas. People of the rural belt aren't conscious of superior animal health practices. Knowledge is understood information possessed by dairy farmers regarding deworming and vaccination and it's a basic character which determines the particular adoption. So, it's highly essential to know existing knowledge level of dairy farmers regarding deworming and vaccination. However, till now there's no any test or tool to measure the level of knowledge of dairy farmers about deworming and vaccination. Keeping in sight these facts, present investigation entitled “Development of test to measure the knowledge of dairy farmers about deworming and vaccination in buffalo” with the subsequent objectives was undertaken.

ATTITUDE OF FARMERS TOWARDS KRISHI MAHOTSAV
(DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION AND COMMUNICATION B. A. COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE ANAND AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY ANAND, 2020) Boppana Jagadeeswari.; Dr. J. B. Patel
Farming is the most important enterprise and farmers are an integral part in the development of our country. India is self-sufficient in production but, Indian farmers are not self-reliant. The average monthly income of farmers is far less than the income of his non-agriculture counterpart (Ramesh, 2017). Thus, there is a need to increase and sustain the income of farmers. Their income can be increased by increasing productivity of land and good marketing intelligence. Scientific research has no meaning unless it reaches the stakeholders on time and according to their needs. Extension plays an important role in bridging the gap between the researcher and the farmer. There are many extension approaches in our country each having its own set of drawbacks and advantages. Government of Gujarat has introduced a proactive extension mode i.e. Krishi Mahotsav in 2005. Krishi Mahotsav has a universal outreach covering almost all the villages of Gujarat. It is a demand led extension approach aims to bring all the line departments personnel to the door steps of the farmers.

ROLE ASSESSMENT OF SCIENTISTS WORKING IN KVKs OF GUJARAT
(DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION AND COMMUNICATION B. A. COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE ANAND AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY ANAND, 2019) Rahul Dundesh Bellagi; Dr. H. B. Patel
In the transfer of technology to farmers in their respective areas, scientists working in KVKs play an important role. Despite the fact that they have so many technologies for farmers’ development, they cannot achieve the expected productivity and production of the target required to meet the demand of the world’s fast-growing second largest populated countries. This is because the researcher-extension agents-farmers are inappropriately linked. This is the main problem hence the scientific evaluation is carried out, i.e. “Role assessment of scientists working in KVKs of Gujarat” was carried out and the various factors affecting the scientists are understood. This study has enabled us to understand the various limitations of the system and helps to link the missing links between scientists and farmers in the transfer of technology to the farming community, and it will also help policymakers to bring desirable changes to the agricultural system in order to help the farming community.
