POPULATION DYNAMICS AND MANAGEMENT OF PEST COMPLEX OF LUCERNE, Medicago sativa Linn.
(Anand Agricultural University, 2008) DENGALE KISHOR RAJMOHAN; Dr. C. C.Patel
The present investigations on population dynamics and management of pest complex of lucerne, Medicago sativa L. were carried out under middle Gujarat condition at Main Forage Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Anand during the year 2006-07 and 2007-08. A study on population dynamics showed that lucerne aphid Therioaphis maculata (Buckton) commenced in first week of January and peaked during last week of January. Coccinellids, Menochillus sexmaculatus L. and chrysopa, Chrysoperla carnea Steph. were closely associated with aphid population. Abiotic factors viz., maximum and mean temperature, mean relative humidity, mean vapour pressure and bright sunshine hours showed negative correlation with population of aphid. Whereas, minimum temperature and wind speed were positively correlated with the pest population. The population of lucerne thrips, Caliothrips indicus Bagnall, was active from the second week
