STANDARDIZATION OF MILK BASED ELISA IN RABBITS IMMUNIZED WITH BOVINE MASTITIS CAUSING Escherichia coli AND Staphylococcus aureus BIOFILM VACCINES
(Karnataka Veterinary Animal And Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar, 2009) JYOTHI, H.L
Bovine mastitis is one of the most problematic diseases and continues to have major economic impact on the dairy industry throughout the world. It is difficult to estimate the losses associated with clinical mastitis, which arise from the cost of treatment and culling of animals with decreased milk production (Bradley, 2002). However, it is estimated that mastitis alone causes approximately 70 per cent of all avoidable losses incurred during milk production. A world wide annual loss due to mastitis is estimated to be $ 35 billions. The total economic losses due to mastitis alone accounts up to Rs. 6053.21 crores per annum in India (Dua, 2001).
