It is a bilobed gland with a median furrow, opens into the urethra through the entire length of the gland and is located at the neck of the bladder. It is supportive in function and it aids in passage of spermatozoa into the uterus of the bitch and provides certain factors for their survival and nourishment. The prostate is under the influence of the hormone testosterone throughout its life and tends to increase in size with progressive advancement of age (Berry et al, 1986). Beyond a certain period, the enlargement of the gland exerts its effects on the nearby structures, which manifests as clinical signs of a prostatic disease and the same has been described based on their etiology and manifestations
