Mounting pressure on the earthâ s land and water resources to produce livestock, poultry and fish feed has led to the evolution of some promising new animal protein production models, one of which is meat production. The world desperately needs more new protein production techniques, not only to increase the per capita availahility but also to help to fight against malnutrition especially following drought and crop failure, apart from providing many additional job opportunities. Among the meat producing animals, chicken meat has no religious taboos like pork or beef in India and moreover, it is also comparatively cheaper than chevon/ mutton (Sathe et al., 2002).
