(G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar - 263145 (Uttarakhand), 2009-06) Gangwar, Sukhdev Singh; Sharma, A.K.
Liquid crystal the fourth state of matter is observed between the crystalline solid and amorphous liquid states. It exihibits the properties of liquids as well as that of crystalline solid state. In the present study we have considered an infinite static layer of cholesteric liquid crystal lying between two infinite hot co-axial circular cylinders in the presence of azimuthal magnetic field when both the cylinders are held at different temperatures and are lying at rest. We have examined the thermo-magnetic effects in this problem. After obtaining the system of governing differential equations we have solved it numerically by Newton Raphson method. The results are then graphically plotted. It has been observed that orientation of molecules varies with the variation of magnetic field and temperature gradient parameters.

A study and analysis of Queue models and its applications in communication system
(G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar - 263145 (Uttarakhand), 2019-08) Agarwal, Rahul; Arun Kumar
Scientists and researchers have been involved over the past few years in the rapid progress in the field of communication via wireless sensor networks. Most of the research on mathematical modeling pa wireless sensor networks has mostly focused on favorable aspects, such as data routing, sensor placement, reliability, etc. A significant amount of delay in study data is actually the effect of queue formation on nodes. It occurs in Therefore, the role of the discreet is very important in wireless sensor network modeling. In this thesis, we study the application of queues implemented in wireless sensor networks and provide insight to the current state of the art and guidelines for the future. The path arrangement is one of the important factors that influence data transmission and processing in wireless sensor networks. This thesis addresses this matter through a path delay examination. We have created a model of wireless sensor network using the open queue network principle and the path delays have been investigated based on the model.

In the present research work fixed point theorems due to Mellaini et al. (2019) and Hu et al. (2013) are proved in intuitionistic fuzzy metric space under contractive and weakly compatible mapping. The work is presented in five chapters. Chapter one focuses on the basic preliminaries and definitions related to metric spaces, fuzzy metric spaces, intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces, contractive mapping, and fixed point. Chapter two presents a review of the literature which is studied during the proposed work. In chapter three definition of contractive mapping is extended into intuitionistic fuzzy metric space. Fixed point theorems due to Mellaini et al. (2019) and Hu et al. (2013) are proved in this chapter. In chapter four, the theorems proved are supported by few examples. A corollary related to the fixed point theorem under weakly compatible mapping is also drawn. Chapter five summarizes the work in brief along with the conclusions. The literature used in the course of the study has been referred under the section of literature cited.

Reliability modelling of replaceable interconnection networks using interval valued universal generating function
(G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar - 263145 (Uttarakhand), 2019-07) Khati, Amisha; Singh, S.B.
In this research work, authoress has developed two different models which are given as: 1. Reliability assessment of replaceable shuffle exchange network (SEN) by using interval valued universal generating function. 2. Reliability assessment of replaceable shuffle exchange network (SEN+) applying interval valued universal generating function. In both the models, we have assumed that the networks are having uncertainties and the failed components of both the networks can be replaced unlike done in the past. The reliability assessment of both networks was done by using the method of IUGF. In the first model, an 8×8 replaceable SEN possessing different uncertainties was considered. The reliability block diagram of the terminal, broadcast and network reliability of SEN was presented. In order to overcome the uncertainties, probabilities bounds have to be used which were evaluated by using supplementary variable technique and Laplace transform. The bounds of the three reliabilities of the SEN were computed along with their MTTF bounds. In the second model, we have considered an 8×8 replaceable SEN+ having uncertainties. The reliability block diagram of the terminal, broadcast and network reliability of the considered SEN+ was presented and its modelling corresponding to each reliability measure was done by applying supplementary variable technique to it. Then by employing Laplace transform, various probability bounds were evaluated and subsequentially the reliability bounds and their MTTF bounds were computed.

Study of simultaneous occurrence of probabilistic and non-probabilistic uncertainties in time series forecasting
(G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar - 263145 (Uttarakhand), 2019-01) Gupta, Krishna Kumar; Sanjay Kumar
Statistical techniques based conventional time series forecasting models are capable to deal probabilistic uncertainty that is caused by randomness. Fuzzy time series forecasting models can handle the non-probabilistic uncertainty that arises due to vagueness and linguistic representation of time series data. Both probabilistic and non-probabilistic uncertainties arise in time series forecasting but neither probability theory nor fuzzy set theory handles these both types of uncertainty simultaneously. Probabilistic fuzzy set includes prominent characteristics of both fuzzy and probability theory and hence is used to model both uncertainties simultaneously in a single framework. In this research work, probabilistic fuzzy set, probabilistic intuitionistic fuzzy set, hesitant probabilistic fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy random variables are used to develop six time series forecasting methods to include both kinds of uncertainties and non-determinism. These methods are presented in forms of models. Model-1, Model-2 and Model-3 are based on probabilistic fuzzy set that use probabilistic fuzzy logical relations of different orders and different schemes to partition time series data. Model-4 is was probabilistic intuitionistic fuzzy set based time series forecasting model that includes both types of uncertainties and non-determinism. Model-5 is based on hesitant probabilistic fuzzy set that also includes both types of uncertainties and non-determinism. Model-5 also includes a particular type of non-determinism that arises due to multiple fuzzification of time series data. Model-6 uses intuitionistic fuzzy random variable and handles both types of uncertainties. While Models [1-5] handles non-probabilistic uncertainties associated with membership grades or non-memberships grades, this model includes probabilistic uncertainty due to randomness of time series data. Models [1-6] are implemented to forecast time series data of University of Alabama enrolments, SBI share prices and TAIEX to show their outperformance over others forecasting methods. Performance of the models has been analyzed in terms of RMSE, AFER. Validity, robustness of the models against variations in time series data is also tested using evaluation parameter, performance parameter, tracking signal and statistical test (t-test and Wilcoxon signed rank test) in time series data.

A study on effects of uniform magnetic field on flow of cholesteric liquid crystals between two relativaly moving parallel hot plates
(G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar - 263145 (Uttarakhand), 2004-06) Meena Kumari; Sharma, A.K.
A study has been conducted on the flow of an incompressible cholesteric liquid crystals with director of unit magnitude between two infinite relatively moving parallel hot plates with the objective: To examine the effects of uniform magnetic field in (x,y,z) directions in the plane of the lower plate which is at rest while the upper plate is motion with a uniform horizontal velocity and the two plates are maintained at different temperature. Differential equations governing the two components of horizontal velocity ( u) and (v) , orientations of directors (θ ) and (Φ) have been formed and solved by using couple stress boundary conditions. In the solution of these equations, we observe that there is no effect of magnetic field on the two velocity components, but they increase with the increase in thermal gradient parameter (E1).The effect of magnetic field on the orientation of molecules (θ) and (Φ) causes variation in their profile.
