This thesis work deals with the design and analysis of the notched UWB Microstrip Patch Antenna with integrated Bluetooth band. The antenna is simulated using the commercially available tool ansys HFFSv15. This thesis contains the basics and fundamentals of UWB microstrip patch antenna and various notching techniques. In order to find, how the characteristics of the UWB antenna depends on its various geometrical and other parameters a series of parametric study were done using HFSS. The proposed antenna is working for entire UWB range 3.1-10.6 GHz, 2.4-2.48GHz (BT-band) and notching have been done for 3.25-3.66GHz (Wi-MAX), 4.95-6GHz (WLAN) and 7.2-7.87GHz(X-band). To reduce the cost, proposed UWB antenna is designed using low cost FR-4 epoxy substrate having thickness of 1.6 mm, dielectric constant “Ɛr” of 4.4 and loss tangent of 0.02. The proposed antenna has a compact size of 24×26.5mm2. To feed the antenna simple microstrip line feed technique has been used. The proposed antenna has a stable radiation pattern in both E-plane and H-plane and gain is 3.78dBi. Time domain parameters are also analyzed i.e. group delay and transmitted and received pulses, group delay is constant over the pass band which shows the phase of antenna system is linear. A rectangular slot in the ground plane is created to achieve wide band and modifications in the patch to get final UWB range. Two pairs of U-shape slots in ground plane have been created to get notches at 4.95- 6GHz and 7.21-7.87GHz bands. Further a primary U-shape slot on the patch and two secondary U-shape slots at the both ends of primary U-shape slots are created to get one more notch for the 3.25-3.66GHz band and Bluetooth frequency (2.4GHz) has been integrated.
