    CONTENT ANALYSIS OF CHANGI KHETI – A FARM MAGAZINE OF PUNJAB AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY

    ABSTRACTS The present study entitled “Content Analysis of Changi Kheti- A Farm Magazine of PAU” was undertaken to analyse the contents of magazine, to study the reactions of readers towards it and to find out the association of profile of readers with the usefulness of the contents of the magazine. Thirty six issues of selected magazine from July 2008 to June 2011 were taken up for the purpose of content analysis. A sample of 50 individual life members and their spouses (50) of Ludhiana district was selected proportionately. The data were collected with the help of interview schedule. The study revealed that in contents of the selected magazine articles, miscellaneous items, photographs, success stories, advertisements, editorials and illustrations occupied the space in the descending order. Among articles agronomic practices obtained maximum space. Among agronomic practices majority of the articles were related to field crops. There was no illustration related to agronomic practices, agricultural engineering and environment in the selected issues. Majority of the respondents were old in age and were matriculates with average land holdings. It was good to notice that all the respondents were fully satisfied with the present volume and periodicity of the magazine. Majority of the readers found the content fully comprehensive, practicable, always relevant, timely and very much trustworthy. Almost all the respondents reported their liking for this magazine. Majority of the respondents found the contents of the magazine useful. Profile of the readers had non- significant association with the usefulness of the contents of the magazine.
