ArticleItem Open Access Fatty Acid Profile of Wet Brewer's Spent Grain(2016-08) Thavasiappan, V.; Nanjappan, K.; Nepolean, R. Ezakial; Visha, P.; Selvaraj, P.; Doraisamy, K.A.; TANUVASWet brewer’s spent grain (WBSG) is the extracted residue remaining after the grains have been fermented during beer making process. The fatty acids composition of feed was estimated by gas chromatography. The fatty acids profile of wet brewer’s spent grain was found to contain 28.41 ± 0.30 per cent SFA and the MUFA and PUFA contents were 15.10 ± 0.25 and 55.92 ± 0.19 per cent, respectively. The PUFA: SFA ratio was found to be 1.97 ± 0.02. These unsaturated fatty acids increased the absorption of PUFA, n3, and n6 fatty acids in the intestine and accumulation in the muscles.OtherItem Open Access Fertile Period in Crossbred Chicken(TANUVAS, Chennai, 2018-12) Prabhakar, R.; Priyadharshini, M.; Anilkumar, R.; Thavasiappan, V.; Krishnakumar, S.; Prema, N.; TANUVASAn experiment was conducted in crossbred chicken to study the period of fertility after artificial insemination. Semen was collected two times a week by standard abdominal massage method in adult crossbred male. Immediately after the collection, semen was inseminated into three laying hens and eggs were collected after third day after the insemination. Eggs were collected continuously for fifteen days without further insemination.ArticleItem Open Access Impact of Intensive Nutrition and Management on Growth Performances of Dorset Nilagiri Crossbreds lambs (Dorni)(Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd., 2020-12) Anilkumar, R.; Krishnakumar, S.; Thavasiappan, V.; TANUVASSuitability of Dorset Nilagiri crossbred lambs for intensive system of management was evaluated. Thirty-six (36) Dorset Nilagiri crossbred lambs were randomly allotted to two groups of 18 lambs (9 ram and ewe lambs) each with group A under intensive and group B under semi intensive system of management. Lambs under intensive and semi intensive system of management were provided with 200 and 150 grams concentrate per day per animal from three to six months, 300 and 200 grams per day per animal from six to 12 months respectively. The Hogget, nine months and yearling weight (17.10±0.59, 23.99±0.68 and 27.83±0.63 vs. 14.51±0.59, 18.36±0.68 and 20.60±0.63 kg) were significantly higher (P<0.01) in group A lambs. Lambs from group A, had significantly (P<0.01) higher overall body weight gain and ADG (15.99±0.36 kg and 59.31±1.30 g) than lambs from group B (9.25±0.36 kg and 34.17±1.30 g). Among the three stages, the ADG highest during 6-9 months in Group A ewe lambs (87.17±4.76 g). Significant reduction in ADG was observed during 9-12 months. Wool yield was significantly higher in group A lambs.ArticleItem Open Access Influence of Dietary Nanoselenium Supplementation on the Meat Characteristics of Broiler Chickens(Int. J. Curr. Microbiology and Applied Sciences, 2017) Visha, P.; Nanjappan, K.; Selvaraj, P.; Jayachandran, S.; Thavasiappan, V.; TANUVASDietary selenium supplementation in the poultry has been regularly practiced using the inorganic and organic forms to enhance the growth and antioxidant defence system. These forms have the limitations of having narrow margin of safety and non specific binding to tissue proteins, hence an alternate form of selenium i.e. nano selenium having greater potential as poultry and livestock feed supplement with higher bioavailability, higher margin of safety and seven fold lower acute toxicity was prepared using starch, ascorbic acid and bovine serum albumin. The nanoselenium (15-40 nm) synthesized were characterized for purity, morphology and size by XRD analysis, transmission electron microscopy and UV spectrophotometry. To investigate the role of selenium forms and levels on the meat characteristics of broiler chickens, a biological trial was conducted in one hundred and eighty day old straight run chickens, divided into six treatment groups each having three replicates. The treatment groups were supplemented with 0.3 mg sodium selenite /kg (T2), 0.3 mg organic selenium /kg (T3), nanoselenium at three levels viz.0.15 (T4), and 0.3 (T5) and 0.6 mg/kg (T6) and T1 group was the control, fed with the basal diet alone. The birds were slaughtered at the end of 42nd day and breast meat characteristics - pH, drip loss and lipid peroxidation were estimated. The results of the study indicated that the nanoselenium supplemented chickens had significant (p<0.05) reduction in breast muscle drip loss and lipid peroxidation as compared with the control. The selenium levels and forms did not influence the pH of breast muscle both at 24 and 48 hrs. Thus nanoselenium (0.3 – 0.6mg /kg diet) can be fed to the broiler chickens to reduce the drip loss and lipid peroxidation and thereby enhance the meat properties.ThesisItem Open Access INFLUENCE OF RARE EARTH ELEMENTS ON DlGESTIVE AND ENDOCRINE FUNCTIONS IN POST PEAK LAYER CHICKEN(TANUVAS, Chennai, 2017) Reka, D.; Thavasiappan, V.; Selvaraj, P.; Arivuchelvan, A.; TANUVASRare earth elements (REE) are the elements which include 17 transition elements of the lll subgroup in the periodic table.REE act as calcium analogs in various biological processes in living cells and can improve the protein and other nutrient utilization through stimulating activities of the hormones such as growth promoting hormone (triiodothyronine). Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a yeast and effective adsorbent for minerals which is rich in crude protein and vitamin-B complex.ArticleItem Open Access Plasma Protein - An Indicator of Nutritional Status and Herd Health in Ovines(Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd., 2020-12) Krishnakumar, S.; Anilkumar, R.; Prema, N.; Prabhakar, R.; Thavasiappan, V.; TANUVASA total of thirty seven (37) sheep were selected and their plasma samples were collected and analyzed for plasma urea nitrogen, total protein, albumin and globulin in monsoon and summer season. Dung samples were also tested for Haemonchosis. The results showed that monsoons showed higher mortality with higher Hemonchus infectivity than summer season. Every one unit of blood urea nitrogen increased, 0.953 times mortality decreased. And every one unit of globulin increased, 0.0163 times of mortality decreased, because of higher antibody titer level by active infection/ immunization. Every one unit of albumin increased, 0.0004 times of mortality was decreased. Plasma protein estimation provides better insights into herd health investigations in ovine.PresentationItem Open Access Role of Enzyme Supplementation on Nutrient Utilization in Broiler Chickens(TANUVAS, Chennai, 2007-08) Thavasiappan, V.; Thangavel, A.ArticleItem Open Access Survival Efciency of Encapsulated Probiotic Bacteria - Lactobacillus Lactis and Bidobacterium Bifdum in Different pH(Indian Veterinary Association, 2017-12) Yazhini, P.; Visha, P.; Selvaraj, P.; Vasanthakumar, P.; Thavasiappan, V.; Manju, G Preeda; Ramavathi, J.; TANUVASSurvival ef ciency of encapsulated Lactobacillus lactis and Bi dobacterium bi dum showed that the encapsulated bacteria showed higher survivability as compared to the nonencapsulated bacteria. Further, among the two encapsulated bacteria, B.bi dum showed more survival percentage on exposure to various pH as compared with the encapsulated L.Lactis.ArticleItem Open Access அரிய பூமி மூலக்கூறுகளினால் முட்டைக் கோழிகளின் முட்டை தரத்தில் ஏற்படும் மாற்றங்கள்(Naam Tamizhar Pathippagam, Chennai, 2019) Rekha, D.; Thavasiappan, V.; Selvaraj, P.; Arivushelvan, A.; Preetha, Manju G.; TANUVASஅரிய பூமி கனிமங்களின் பயன்பாட்டினால் முட்டையின் தரத்தில் ஏற்படும் மாற்றங்களைக் கண்டறிவதற்காக இவ்வுயிரியல் ஆய்வு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டது.ArticleItem Open Access அரிய பூமி மூலக்கூறுகளின் பயன்பாட்டினால் முட்டைக் கோழிகளின் உயிர்வேதியியல் அளவுருக்களில் ஏற்படும் விளைவுகள்(Naam Tamizhar Pathippagam, Chennai, 2019) Rekha, D.; Thavasiappan, V.; Selvaraj, P.; Arivushelvan, A.; Visha, P.; Preetha, Manju G.; TANUVASஅரிய பூமி கனிமங்களின் பயன்பாட்டினால் முட்டைக் கோழிகளின் பிளாஸ்மா கால்சியம், பாஸ்பரஸ், அஸ்பாரேட்அமனோடிரான்ஸ்ஃபெரேஸ் மற்றும் அலினைன்அமினோடிரான்ஸ்ஃபெரேஸ் போன்ற உயிர்வேதியியல் அளவுருக்களின் ஏற்படும் விளைவுகளைக் கண்டறிவதற்காக இவ்வுயிரியல் ஆய்வு நடத்தப்பட்டது.ArticleItem Open Access இலாபகரமான பால் உற்பத்திக்குத் தேவையான ஊட்டச்சத்துகள்(SKM Animal Feeds and Foods (India) Ltd., 2014-05) Visha, P.; Geetha, M.; Nanjappan, K.; Thavasiappan, V.; TANUVASBook chapterItem Open Access கன்று ஈன்ற பின் சினைப் பருவத்திற்கு வரத் தாமதமாகும் எருமைகளில் சினைப்பருவத்தை தூண்ட சி,ஐ,டி,ஆர் மற்றும் புரொஜெஸ்ட்ரான் சேர்க்கப்பட்ட யோனிக்குழாய் பஞ்சுகள் - ஓர் ஒப்பீடு(Veelan ariviyal tamil iyakkam, Newdelhi, 2015) Jayachandran, C.; Visha, P.; Selvaraj, P.; Nanjappan, K.; Thavasiappan, V.ArticleItem Open Access கறவை மாடுகளில் தீவன மேலாண்மை(TANUVAS, Chennai, 2020-08) Prema, N.; Krishnakumar, S.; Prabhakar, R.; Thavasiappan, V.; TANUVASகறவை மாடு வளர்ப்பில் சுமார் 70 விழுக்காடு பராமரிப்புச் செலவு அதற்கு கொடுக்கப்படும் தீவனத்தை உள்ளடக்கியதாகும். (Kozhi Nanbhan, 2015-05) Visha, P.; Geetha, M.; Nanjappan, K.; Thavasiappan, V.; TANUVAS
