dc.description.abstractSeed is the most important and vital input for agricultural production. In fact, it is the most cost efficient means of increasing agricultural production and productivity. Quality of seed accounts for twenty to twenty five percent of productivity. Therefore, it is important that quality seeds are made available to the farmers of the country. The Indian Seeds programme recognizes three generations of seeds namely breeder, foundation and certified seeds. The private seed industry is now undergoing a transition following the Indian Government's focus on biotechnology research, as a means of increasing agricultural production and also driven by trends in the domestic and world seed market. Several large multinational seed companies now have their presence in India (either as a joint venture or with 100 percent equity) with their main focus on biotechnology. Ankur Seeds Private Limited is one of the growing field crops and hybrid vegetable crop seed companies in India. It is research based organization. Ankur seeds established in 1976 at Nagpur. Nearing its 40 years of establishment, Ankur Seeds today offers over 115 quality seed products over 16 crops.en_US
