dc.description.abstractCastor is an important industrial non-edible oilseed crop. Castor seed contains 45-47 per cent non-edible oil, which is used for domestic, medicinal and industrial purpose. Total area under Castor crop in India for the year 2011-12 is 11.50 lakh hectares. It has increased by 34% as compared to previous year (Anonymous 2011- 12). Castor is cultivated as one of the major oilseed crop, in almost all the districts of Gujarat state. Amongst this Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Kutch, Mehsana, Patan, Surendranagar, Gandhinagar, Mahisagar and Ahmedabad are the major castor producing districtsen_US
