dc.description.abstractEfficient weed management is necessary to increase the productivity with judicious use of inputs. Weed control is one of the most difficult tasks in crop production that accounts a considerable share of cost involved. There are many methods for weed management, but out of those methods, chemical methods are most popular. These methods are hazardous for environment as well as for human health. To ensure the food security, growing demand for organically produced food and sustainable development of agriculture, it is critically important to develop chemical free agricultural products. This has necessitated the shift towards mechanical weeding. Although, many weeders have been developed to remove the weeds from the row, but weeds in intra row remain inattentive, which are indispensable to be removed for more crop production. Although, the weed control in intra row region is challenging for mechanical weeding, efforts required for development of low cost, effective and efficient inter and intra row weeder with less drudgery for small farmers. Considering all, a push type manual weeder was developed for inter as well as intra row weeding simultaneously.en_US
