Abstract
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal) is an important medicinal plant
mentioned in various texts of indigenous systems of medicine (ISM) viz., Ayurveda,
Siddh and Unani. Studies were carried out to investigate the genetics of berry colour
and plant type in a cross of ashwagandha (Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal) at
Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research (DMAPR), Anand during late
kharif season (August – September sowing) 2010-2012.
