Abstract
Tobacco anthracnose caused by Collectotrichum dematium(Pers. ex Fr. ) Grove occurs during the nursery period. Its appearance mostly starts from lower leaves as small water soaked spots which later develop into circular, dark, pinpoint size measuring 1-3 mm in diameter. Septate mycelium is black in colour. Unicellular curved conidia are produced on short conidiophores in acervuli. Black setae are present. Out of seven media, fungus grew best on potato dextrose agar. Two percent sucrose enhanced the growth.
