Abstract
The present study was undertaken to explore effect of Kisan Credit Card scheme on farmers’ economic status and perception of farmers towards KCC scheme. Primary data was collected from 100 respondents, selected from Ludhiana district, using non-disguised pre-structured questionnaire. The results indicated that most of the farmers take credit regularly for buying farm equipments, seeds, pesticides and fertilizers. A very small number of farmers use KCC for buying assets, for starting new business and for family requirements. Majority of respondents agreed that KCC scheme improved their economy. It is due to the timely availability of credit for cultivation purpose which leads to farmers to buy required amount of better quality seeds, pesticides, fertilizers, so better quality and quantity of output is produced which leads to increase in income.
