dc.description.abstractAgriculture is the backbone of Indian economy and important occupation for most of the Indian families. Agriculture sector, a space which employs more than 50 per cent of the total workforce in India and contributes around 17-18 per cent to the country’s GDP. Animal husbandry and agriculture are the twin occupations. Since ancient time have played a significant role in improving the rural economy. Livestock rearing provides meaningful occupation both full time and subsidiary at the location itself and provides assured income and ensures better utilization of human resources. It provides employment especially self-employment to a substantial number of rural and urban populations.en_US
