Abstract
Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) is a principal cash crop of India, earning a large share of
the excise revenue and giving employment to large number of labourers. The present
investigation was carried out at Bidi Tobacco Research Station, Anand Agricultural University,
Anand during 2015-2016 with a view to study the genetic parameters like gene effects, heterosis,
inbreeding depression, heritability and genetic advance of four crosses (each having P1, P2, F1,
F2, B1 and B2 generations) in a Compact Family Block Design with four replications
